CBD is the non-psychoactive portion on Cannabis or Hemp. People are using it daily as a food supplement, particularly to help replenish the bodies endocannabinoid system.
What is the Endocannabinoid system?
Relatively new scientific studies have shown that our body has a wider endocannabinoid system. A system that connects a series of receptors throughout the brain and body. This is a trait that we share with mammals, fish, and all vertebrates and invertebrates.
Endocannabinoids and Endocannabinoid receptors are a natural thing that is already existing in our body.
The system can be broken down into two crucial elements, CB1 receptors and CB2 receptors.
The CB1 receptors are found mostly in the central nervous system. However, they are said to be found within the kidney, lungs and liver and are involved in a lipogenesis process that takes place inside the liver. Therefore, Playing a key role in your bodies internal equilibrium (homeostasis). According to a number of studies, the CB1 receptors regulate – Pleasure, Concentration, Appetite, Memory and Pain Tolerance.
The CB2 receptors are found mostly in the immune system. Involved in a variety of functions including immune suppression or apoptosis (programmed cell death). Studies have suggested that CB2 receptors could modulate pain sensation and play a role in a number of diseases from liver and kidney trouble to neurodegenerative diseases.
CBD is a Phytocannabinoid
Phytocannabinoids are similar to Endocannabinoids but derived from a plant – A perfectly natural thing.
The science is not yet clear as to whether phytocannabinoids can substitute endocannabinoids, but it seems to make sense. The quantities of phytocannabinoids taken in CBD oils are far higher than the microscopic quantities already produced by our bodies. so in theory CBD oil can effect:
- Mood & more.
